ABU DHABI: Ana Rosa, a health education and screening initiative planned exclusively for women was launched today by Mafraq Hospital. The launch falls just weeks ahead of the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which runs throughout October.
Meaning ‘I am Rose’ in Arabic, the programme is expected to reach approximately 6,000 female patients within the next year.
One of the key topics to be addressed by the programme is the burden of breast cancer – the second leading cause of death in females in Abu Dhabi. With a goal to reduce the risk of breast cancer across the UAE by spreading awareness and education on breast health, Ana Rosa will provide information on screening procedures, preventative measures and tips for staying healthy.
The programme will also offer information on cervical cancer and other important health information targeted exclusively towards women.
