The works of the Saudi-Sri Lankan Joint Committee’s first session commenced today in Riyadh.
The Kingdom’s Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Social Development for Labor Dr. Abdullah Abuthnain headed the Saudi side, while the State Minister of Foreign Affairs Tharaka Balasuriya headed the Sri Lankan side.
During his speech, Dr. Abuthnain highlighted the Kingdom’s interest in exploring opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in various promising economic sectors, citing prospects of enhancing cooperation and strengthening relations between the two countries.
For his part, the Sri Lankan Minister of State for Foreign Affairs emphasized the depth of relationship between the two countries, hailing the achievements and goals of the Saudi Vision 2030 under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince.
The Saudi-Sri Lankan Joint Committee stems from the general agreement signed in 1424 AH, corresponding to 2003 AD.
It aims to encourage cooperation between the two countries in the economic, trade investment, scientific, artistic and cultural fields, as well as youths and sports.
