ABU DHABI, Awaidha Murshed Ali Al Marar, Chairman of the Department of Energy – Abu Dhabi, discussed the strategic plans for the future of the energy sector with the CEOs and executive directors of national companies, during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, ADSW 2018, aimed at achieving the sustainability and diversification of energy, in line with the Abu Dhabi Emirate Plan.
During the meeting, he highlighted the ambitious vision of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, which seeks to diversify its strategy in the energy field, as well as contribute to the continuous reduction of solar energy prices that have already dipped below the 2-cent level.
Al Marar praised the quality of the Emirati projects that were presented at the Climate Innovation Exchange, CLIX, forum – the international platform hosted by the World Future Energy Summit – and highlighted their role in promoting sustainable and innovative solutions among the youth, and hailed their innovations to promote the efficiency of energy consumption.
He said that renewable energy needs to be supported by other forms of energy, such as fossil and nuclear energy. Al Marar noted that the current edition of the World Future Energy Summit raised more innovative ideas and solutions that would contribute to shaping the future of the energy.
Al Marar hailed the success of the sixth edition of ADSW and the exhibitions held under its umbrella, adding that this success, and the keenness of international companies to participate and be periodically present in the event, highlights the leading position of the UAE and Abu Dhabi in the energy sector.
