Abu Dhabi’s DoT offers geolocation of the Founder’s Memorial on Darb Application

ABU DHABI, The Department of Transport, DoT, in Abu Dhabi has offered geolocation of the Founder’s Memorial on Darb Application to allow visitors east access the site. The memorial was established on Abu Dhabi Corniche as a tribute to the life of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan and his legacy.

“The geolocation of Sheikh Zayed’s Memorial in Darb Application was developed as an initiative following the launch of the Memorial to represent the great status of the late Sheikh Zayed in the heart of his people. The Memorial symbolises the civilisation of our country and its history. By using Darb, visitors can arrive easily to the Memorial by the clicking on the logo of the ‘Year of Zayed’ that is shown once the application is launched. This feature was developed in accordance with the inauguration of the Memorial,” said Maktoum Abdulla Al Kaabi, Head of Technology and Transport Systems Team.

The application also offers all transport-related statistics including the number of users and services requested along with any technical issues they faced that is in aim to improve the quality of services provided through the application and assure its continuous development.

Additionally, the updated version of Darb includes real-time data about bus services like details about the services’ schedules, stations number and bus stops. In addition to facilitating the parking services for the Determined Ones. The application allows them to find the vacant parking bays and find the easiest way to arrive to them.

The application includes developing the online payment of parking fees, improving bicycles services locations and their paths and locate them on the map. Moreover, “Darbi” service has been improved. The service represent an advanced tool for Geo-Feedback in which allows residents and visitors to report any problem in order to improve the transport services in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Darb is one of the most important outcomes of the Integrated Transport and Navigation Information System project and one of the key initiatives included in the Intelligent Transport System Strategy and its development. It includes interactive maps that provide users with all information and directions related to public transport routes in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and bus schedules in a fast performance with an easy to use design.

It also provides users with real-time information related to traffic conditions, construction work and traffic rerouting. The smart application offers several advantages related to public parking and airport services, including access to airport terminal sites as well as flight schedules and public parking spaces with prompt payment service for parking fees. The application also provides other important services like a “Taxi” service showing the destination, directly from the smartphone.
